The Peace Cookbook website designed by Webteqno — Publishing / Cultural Diplomacy in New York, USA & Monaco

The Client

The Peace Cookbook is a cultural diplomacy project by Wheeler del Torro, a cultural envoy working in culinary diplomacy whose career has taken him to more than a hundred countries. He now divides his time between the United States, Monaco and the South of France. The book is created in partnership with the Foundation for Post Conflict Development (FPCD). FPCD is a 501(c)(3) founded in New York in 2005 that focuses on development in post-conflict communities, including projects for midwives, maternal and family health, youth empowerment and community environmental programs.

The cookbook reimagines well-loved dishes from the g7+, an intergovernmental group of 20 conflict-affected and fragile states. Each chapter introduces a member country through recipes and reflections, not through its conflicts. It is a limited, signed edition rather than a mass-market title. A related Peace Cookbook Initiative turns the idea into a framework for hosting dialogue around a shared table.

The Problem

A limited, signed edition can't be sold like an ordinary book. The project needed a home that explains why food belongs in diplomacy and introduces the author and the foundation behind the book. It also had to earn the trust of readers, journalists and cultural partners before anyone asked about a copy.

The site had to handle several kinds of request at once: signed-copy enquiries, press kits, interviews and cultural collaborations. It needed to do that without turning a cultural project into a hard-sell storefront.

What We Did

We built a WordPress and Elementor site that opens on a full-width food photography hero. The hero has a serif title, a one-line case for food as one of diplomacy's oldest tools and a single Reserve a Signed Copy button. From there the home page walks visitors through the FPCD partnership, the author, the culinary diplomacy idea behind the book and why the signed edition is deliberately scarce.

Every enquiry button on the home page, including Reserve a Signed Copy, Request Press Kit and Schedule Interview, leads to one contact form. There, visitors pick a subject: media, collaboration, signed copy or general. Alongside the form sit a downloadable preview PDF with sample recipes and a press section listing the media kit, excerpts and interview requests. There is also a blog of short essays on food and diplomacy, with country pieces on Sierra Leone, Haiti, Cyprus, Syria and Côte d'Ivoire.

We also built a long-form page for the Peace Cookbook Initiative. It sets out the five-step peace table framework, use cases at community, institutional and diplomatic scale, background on the g7+ and alignment with SDG 16 and 17. The page has its own forms for blueprint requests and general enquiries.

The Result

The Peace Cookbook now has a calm, serious website for a limited cultural edition. From the home page, visitors can read about the author and the foundation, download a preview and browse essays on food and diplomacy. They can then send a signed-copy enquiry or ask for a press kit through the same form.
